Calcium Aluminate based Synthetic slag builders are a kind of auxiliary material for refining during steel production. *Production The production of calcium aluminate is milled in an appropriate ratio to provide homogenous mixture. It is then sintered or melted in the oven. The targeted mineral composition is CA, CA2, C3A and C12A7.

* Application

Calcium Aluminate, used in steel production process, incorporates non-metallic emits by providing desulfurization and phosphorus removal without adversely affecting Crucible Refractory.

It can also play a role in the Calcium Aluminate-based Synthetic Slag Thermal insulation; It purifies liquid steel by preventing liquid steel from reacting with Oxygen, Nitrogen and Hydrogen.

Sinter Synthetic Slag  Electrofusion Synthetic Slag

Calcium Aluminate for Metallurgy is a kind of auxiliary material for steelmaking,  as it speeds up secondary metallurgy process, especially faster desulphurization, Improves overall steel cleanliness and makes high grade steel with cheaper cost.

Calcium aluminate’ advantages

  • Uniform chemical compositions,low melting point,high melting speed,and short smelting time;
  • It has no fluoride and doesn’t erode furnace lining and ladle, and it is compact, non- absorbent, and easy to storage as well;
  • Stable phase and fast dus-treducing speed,rapid desulfurization effect stabilized at 60%,and suppresses phosphorus into molten steel;
  • Improving the protective effect and reducing erosion to ladle lining.

ATS – ESR FLUX

In order to protect the slag makers to be used in the ESR process from atmospheric effects, we need to cut off their contact with air. For this reason, ATS Metalurji has secured its slag makers against atmospheric changes by using sealed (gasketed) sheet metal barrels and sealed aluminum packaging.

Slag has an important role in controlling inclusions in the ESR process. The chemical and physical properties of slag also have a great impact on the removal of inclusions. The role of the slag includes;

  • It controls the oxigen leveland chemistry of the molten metal,
  • It provides the heat required for the electrode to melt by creating resistance,
  • Removing sulfur content of the steel,
  • Lubrication for the copper mould/Ingot interface and controlling horizantal heat transfer between the ingot and the mould.
